Travelling should be about having fun safely, but you can’t be vaccinated against everything.
To assist with ensuring that you and your family are travel ready, we have pulled together some handy information to help with keeping you all safe whilst you are busy making memories together.
Travel vaccinations are vaccines that are recommended or required for travel to certain countries or regions. They protect against infectious diseases that are more common in those areas. These vaccines work by preparing the body's immune system to recognize and fight the disease if the person is exposed to it. The vaccines usually contain a weakened or inactivated form of the virus or bacteria, or a piece of it, such as a protein. When the vaccine is given, the immune system recognizes it as foreign and produces antibodies to fight it. If the person is later exposed to the actual disease, the immune system is able to quickly recognize and fight it off, preventing or reducing the severity of the illness.
It is recommended to get a travel vaccine at least 4-6 weeks before your trip, as some vaccines may require multiple doses and take time to build immunity. However, it is best to consult with one of our travel clinicians to determine the specific timing for your destination and vaccination needs.
If you are traveling at short notice, or have left your needs to the last minute and are worried about having enough time to receive your vaccination, then please still contact us. Some vaccines can be given at short notice, or courses can be shortened to suit your travel plans.
Our prices are published on our Pricing Page and start from £35. As the cost of any treatment will depend on the types and dosage of vaccine you need for your chosen destinations, we can give you an accurate costing as part of our Travel Consultation. We charge a non-refundable consultation fee of £20 which is later deducted from final vaccination fee.
